Default Materiel Farming

Hello all,

I have been playing for some time, and i have yet to find a PLACE to farm materiels. If you all would be so kind as to tell me a place, not a build, a place to farm materiels, i would greatly apreciate it.

P.S. The search button has revealed no results.

Thanks in advance for your help

I second that, you find many cloth and hides there. Also some nice rares if you are lucky (linen, damask, leather, fur(?))

There is really no particular place to farm materials. Any higher level area will net you weapons and armor. Salvaging nearly everything that drops is a good way to gain materials.

I've been doing the Ettin rune farming for a few days and I salvage everything I get on those trips. So far I got 750 Tanned Hide Squares, 35 Leather, around 250 wood, 200 clothes and 200 iron. So yea as long as you salvage everything you can basically farm materials in any high lvl area.

the amount of money you spend on salvage kits becomes quite close to all the materials youve salvaged, in other words you may get a better deal buying the common materials.

Assuming you bought the Superior Salvage Kit for 2k with 100 uses, that means each use costs you 20g. Most common materials you can sell for 10g per in Droks. (Wood, Tanned Hide, Iron Ingots, Bolts of Cloth). That means you'd need to salvage at least 2 to break even and if you salvage more, than that's a net gain.

I really don't think it's uncommon mid-to-late gain to salvage more than two of an item. I've salvaged 11 Parchment off of one High Salvageable Scroll and 41 Wood Planks off of one High Salvageable Raven Staff. The norm? Hardly, but even a regular staff late game should get you roughly 6-8 Wood Planks. That should be comparable to any other material salvaged. And that's not even bringing rare materials into account.

Even if you used a normal basic Salvage Kit for 100g/25 uses (4g per) you'd get more bang for your buck but would sacrifice the chance of rare materials.

Either way, I have no trouble having a net gain on all of my salvaged items.

Need wood? The trolls outside Droks in the cave to the left in Talus Chute (IIRC it's Talus Chute) drop staffs like crazy (Easy wood).

Need tanned hide? Ettin farm outside Beetletun

Just my .02g

Take care,

Ray

It is a chest that does not require a key. It can be found Below Lornar's pass and Above Snakedance in the Southernish shiverpeaks. When you Open the Frozen Chest it Reveal Salage Items. When you Open the Lost Storage Box(w/e its called) It reveals Items. Just bring a ton-o Salvage kits and clear Inventorys.

Hey guys, sorry if I'm kinda newbish in this area, but I really haven't payed too much attention to all of this...

I know that the normal Salvage Kit is cheap and only gives you low end stuff...

1) Lets say we get a late game regular staff...yields 5-8 wood planks?
Would both the Superior Salvage and Regular Salvage give me the same ammount of wood planks?

2) Also, in order to get "rare" salvage items, is that by "Chance" with the Superior Salvage kits? If so, do you guys know at what %Chance it is?

I know there's a list of Items = X Regular & X Rare salvage items...

3a) Which do you think is cheaper, SELLING all of your drops, then buying all of your common materials...
3b) SALVAGING all of your found materials...

4) OH, if you have a "RARE" Purple or Gold items, would Superior Salvage yield any "rare" materials, or the runes/wep upgrade stuff for that special weapon?

Hope you guys can answer all of my noobish questions, thx!

The only reason I salvage things is to make space on my character for more room for more items. I personally have found that items on their own generally sell for more gold than the salvage materials. For example, late game items usually sell for roughly 80 gold on average. I would need to salvage 10 materials using a superior salvage kit to break even. And even if I managed to salvage that much, I would have to spend time to sell the materials to other players. During a long area or farming run, I agree it is better to salvage enough so you have space for items.

I have done some simple calculations on this when i go griffon farming and the results are mixed.

Here is a run through for griffons that you could apply to any area.

average item drop from griffon is like 50 gold, + 16 gold for salvage means by salvaging an item you are throwing away 66 gold per item.

now take standard materials prices on open droks market and its like about 10 gold per regular crafting and ~100-120 for rare. With griffons everything is in the realm of iron/steel, wood or hides/leather

so you would have to get 7 regular per salvage to just break even, which is average or a little below average, or get a rare material which will make you good money over just selling.

basically what i do to maximize money is i salvage all items that are in the 50-60 gold range usually netting me a few more gold, all blue/purple/gold items are sold for their increased value and because you would salvage out a weapon part usually, so unless you want it sell it. And of course salvage all highly salvagable items because those are great for materials

so after you consider what you usually get per salvage and the price of the item you can find out wether or not to salvage

Any of the fire island missions, or any mission with mursaat in them, will occasionally yield mursaat tokens. Salvage these for glittering dust, I think you get anywhere from 7 - 11 from each one. People are always wanting to buy glit dust to make vellum.
